"The Des Moines region and the state of Iowa (are) developing a positive reputation as a place that accepts diversity, new ideas and is civil in its discourse of even the most controversial of topics - for example same-sex marriages. ... It is altogether appropriate for our policies to keep pace with this progress," Miller wrote in the e-mail.And here we have an excellent argument for progressiveness in general. By being more open to some ideas/diversity, it's easier to become open to others.

Update on Iowa bus ads
The Iowa bus ads ("Don't believe in god? You're not alone.") will be going back up. A victory for free and equitable speech.
